1) Student Center Bookstore, 4:45 pm, 2/14/18

2) Farthest- People talking and walking over the Unispan, people talking in the lower level of the bookstore, someone playing music somewhere inside the student center

3)Medium- The cashier helping someone at the desk, lots of talking and laughing from the tables set up right outside the bookstore

4) Closest- Two people talking to each other next to me, my stomach growling, my breathing, a shirt falling off the hanger I was holding

5) Sound level- very high, intense and exciting because it was valentines day

6) Word- Active

7) Three sounds- music playing, people talking and laughter outside the bookstore

Going over the Unispan – 2/7/18 – 4:00 pm

Sounds: People talking, footsteps

Location: Sephora in Roosevelt Field, 2/13/18 around 4 pm

Description: Sephora was pretty busy today, and a lot of talking can be heard, such as a saleswoman describing a mattifying foundation. Additionally, there’s pop music playing in the background. The talking and the music dominate the clip.

1- February 8th – 11:00 pm – Room 315 in The Hague House in the Netherland

2- Farthest – Cars driving down the street, people talking in the house common room

3- Medium – My roommates talking in the other room, the toilet flushing in the bathroom

4- Closest- my breathing, the running of my fish tank’s motor, the bubbling or the fish tank’s filter, my clock ticking

5- It is very quiet in this room and there is very little sound activity.

6- Tired

7- Clock ticking, fish filter bubbling, cars driving by

  1. Farthest: I can hear the door opening on the other side of the wall with people walking through it.
  2. Medium: I can hear tables and chairs moving around
  3. Closest: The conversations and people talking very loudly.
  4. Busy
  5. Three essential sounds for this environment are: people walking fast, the chairs moving around, the sound of people talking this is pretty much the easiest way to tell you’re in Bits

1- February 1st – 8:00 pm – Next to the Halal Cart on Oak St.
2- Farthest Away- Cars honking on another street, people yelling to each other somewhere on campus, an airplane in the air.
3- Medium Range- People walking in the parking lot of the Netherlands, busses squeaking as they drive by, cars speeding down the street, someone getting into their car and turning it on.
4- Closest- The sound of my breathing, the buzzing of the engine of the halal cart, the man chopping food in the cart, people ordering food at the cart and talking with the man working there.
5- The sounds weren’t too loud. The sounds occurred at pretty random times but the one exception was the buzzing of the halal cart which was constant.
6- Active
7- The buzzing of the halal cart’s engine, cars driving by, talking from different people.

  2. Farthest: Airplane outside
  3. Medium: People talking in the hall, women’s bathroom door closing
  4. Closest: Radiator whirring next to me, my own breathing, my fingers moving over pages
  5. Level: Quiet; very little sound
  6. Description: Relaxing
  7. Important sounds: Radiator whirring, the bathroom door closing, and my fingers moving over pages of a book

Hofstra Gala 2017 during Cocktail hour. Walked around. You can hear people talking, eating, clinking glasses, having fun.
