Journal Entry #6 – Barone

  1. Date: 3/3/20 – Time: 7:00pm – Location: Emily Lowe Hall Room 106 (Summer and Smoke Rehearsal)
  2. The farthest sound from me is the sound of a door opening and closing.
  3. In the medium range of sound, I can hear people talking and laughing at each other.
  4. The closest sound from me is the sound of me exhaling and my bones cracking while I am stretching.
  5. The general sound level is medium and the amount of sound activity is pretty wide-ranging since there are a group of people in one small circle.
  6. One word to describe the “sound environment” is active.
  7. 3 things that are essential to the “sound environment” is a door opening and closing, people talking and laughing, and me exhaling and cracking my bones while I am stretching.

Journal Entry #4

  1. 2/20/2020, 8:05PM, Monroe Hall 205 (Acapella group rehearsal)
  2. Footsteps walking down hallway, & voices in hallway.
  3. Classroom door opening/closing & footsteps walking towards front of classroom.
  4. Water bottles opening, sheet music shuffling, piano, singing warm-ups, & people talking.
  5. The sound level is pretty high since I was right next to the piano and our singing voices were amplified from the acoustics of the room.  Despite a few sounds other than singing, the amount of sound activity was low since we were all singing the same thing. 
  6. Unified.

Far sounds: people talking in drounge, Lowe main door closing

Medium sounds: Ali and Lisa talking, Tunisia and Heidi talking, Caitlin walking around

Close sounds: me eating my apple, my nose sniffling because I’m sick

Overall sound level: medium

Sound description: upbeat
