People furiously typing on their laptops
Groups of people quietly talking to one another
The buzzing of the overhead lights
The faint sound of one of the printers being used
Sound of a card swipe and a door opening
Someone using the paper towel dispenser in the bathroom
Hofstra Swim Center – Swim Class
The sounds of wet feet walking across the floor
Various people breaking the surface of the water
Swimmers breathing in as their heads break the water
The swim instructor talking to other swimmers
The humming of the water pumping system in the pool
The Sounds of Constitution Hall, 6th Floor (Specifically from my room)
The slam of a distant door.
The wind passing through my open window.
The unnecessarily loud humming of my refrigerator.
The sound of my neighbor talking.
The sound of an idiot playing with the bell in the elevator.
The sound of a car revving it’s engine and driving away.

- My own labored breathing
- The mechanical rhythm of the treadmill
- My best friend on the phone
- Music in my headphones
- Music playing on the speakers
- Sneakers squeaking on the basketball court
- People talking
- The metal chain on the rowing machine being pulled
Hofstra Gala 2017 during Cocktail hour. Walked around. You can hear people talking, eating, clinking glasses, having fun.

- Farthest-Sounds of laughter from a different room. winds outside, The thud of doors closing different sections of the building, dimmed screech of a police siren or ambulance.
- Medium-Refrigerators running in vending machines, air conditioner, a buzz from the fluorescent lighting
- Closest-Butter sizzling on a heated pan, random clinks from the stove, me biting and chewing toast and scrambled eggs, me typing on the keyboard.
- Level and Activity-Low sound level as in it’s very quiet and any sound emitted can be heard throughout the room, but there’s a moderate amount of sound coming preventing total silence.
- Solitary
- Buzz of vending machines, sizzling butter, Police/ambulance siren.
Location: Bathroom in Vander Poel Hall
I put my phone in a Ziploc bag and let water run over it. Fair warning it doesn’t sound as pretty as I thought it would.
