Journal Entry #3

– Thursday March 5th, 7pm, Hofstra Fitness Center basketball courts.

– Furthest away from me is the air conditioning, sounds of treadmills and stair masters, and the TVs playing ESPN

– Medium range sounds are people walking and talking on the jogging path, the music of a bluetooth speaker across the courts, and water bottles on the sidelines popping open

– Closest to me are all the sounds of a basketball game. The ball being dribbled, hitting the backboard and going through the net, sneakers squeaking on the floor, and the trash talk going on between players.

– Sound level is high, lots of different people in the busy place makes a very complex sound palate.

– “Intense”

– The 3 essential sounds to me are the ball dribbling, Shoes squeaking, and the background music.
