4/16/19, 8:04pm, my friend’s room in Vander Poel as they were finishing cutting someone’s hair.

Farthest away sounds: Voices in the hallway, a trash can in the hallway banging.

Medium sounds: Music playing from a laptop, footsteps.

Close-range sounds: Loud talking inside room, vacuum picking up hair.

General sound level: high, medium sound for sound activity.

One-Word Description: Cacophonous

3 essential sounds: Loud talking, vacuum, music from laptop

Location: My dorm room in Vander Poel Hall, taking a break from homework.

Sounds heard: Chewing, rustling through a bag of Goldfish, typing, Apple power-up noise, water bottle crinkling, water being drunk.

Location: Vander Poel elevator, 4/17/18, around 10pm

Sounds Heard: Elevator dinging, pressing buttons, my keys rattling, the door closing, the elevator going up, the door opening

Location: Outside of Vander Poel 4/7/18 around 6pm

Sounds heard: Birds chirping, my footsteps on grass, cars passing by in the Vander Poel parking lot and on Oak Street

Location: Vander Poel, Floor 13, 4/10/18 5:44pm

Farthest: People talking in the kitchen, the elevator door “ding-ing”

Medium: Air vent running, a girl writing in a notebook

Closest: Music playing in my headphones, me typing

Level: Quiet

Description: Productive

Important sounds: Typing, the elevator “ding-ing”, people talking in the kitchen

Location: Outside of Vander Poel hall into the lobby, 2/21/18 around 11:20am

Sounds heard: My sneakers on the damp concrete (my favorite sound here, it was interesting), wind, the card-swipe machine beeping, the front door opening, the turnstile creaking
