2- Furthest: The sounds from the workers cooking, the slight hum of the building, the fan blowing
3- Medium: People chatting at the table next to me, the workers having a conversation at the cash register, a phone ringing across the room.
4- Closest: My friend telling me a story, my bracelets jangling as I type, keyboards clacking, brief clips of people’s conversations as they walk by.
5- Sound level and activity: low, it’s still early and there’s not many people inside, the calm before the storm of common hour

4/1/24 – 7:48 PM – My Bedroom

Sounds furthest away from me: Train passing by my window, Cars passing by out my window.

Sounds at a medium distance from me: Paw Patrol just beyond my wall and the sound of metal utensils hitting a plate.

Sounds closest to me: The sounds of the keyboard clacking, The fan on my PlayStation running.

The sound level is medium but my little brother starts getting invested in paw patrol he can start screaming so it can very well get louder.

Location: Career Center waiting room

Far Sounds: door opening and latching down the hall, voices moving past, footsteps, paper cutter slicing in a nearby office.

Medium Sounds: light keyboard tapping, bracelet swiping across a desk, computer mouse clicking, desk drawer opening and closing. 

Close Sounds: two women talking, door opening, footsteps on carpet, jacket rubbing, white noise machine.

Sound Description/Level: the sound in this room is refined, almost antiseptic. The white noise machine gives it a calming atmosphere and nothing is too loud or jarring. 

One Word: clean

Most Important Sounds: keyboard tapping, footsteps on carpet, white noise machine.

  1. February 23rd- 7:17pm- My room in Alliance Hall 
  2. Sounds farthest away are the shouts of residents in hallway and lobby outside of my door 
  3. Sounds in medium range to me is the loud and overbearing noise of air escaping the vents in my laptop as it grows hot, almost like a chugging. 
  4. Closest to me is the tapping of my hands hitting the keys as I furiously try to bang out an article the night before it is due. 
  5. There seems to be a fair amount of sound activity coming from all directions of the space I am in. 
  6. One word: Chaotic 
  7. For the feeling of this environment you definitely need the residents to still be screaming and you need the labored chugging of the laptop, the tapping also represents the chaotic nature because it is so rushed, so really every sound identified up top really enforces the sound environment.

  5. Level: Typically quiet but has bursts of noise every few moments

  7. Important sounds: Typing, people on the phone, coffee machine boiling water, printer running

Location and Date- My boyfriend John’s room on 2/2/18, around 9:30 pm

Sounds heard- Dryer turning and clanking (the most obvious sound although the dryer is in another room), John typing on the keyboard and sighing in frustration (less obvious), clicking on the mouse
