Location: My front porch, 5:30pm

Identifiable Sounds: My dog’s leash, sounds from the kitchen inside (mostly the clattering of plates, I can also make out the sound of the dishwasher being opened), the front storm door opening and closing, footsteps, a dog barking blocks away, my neighbor dropping a hubcap in his driveway across the street, some birds chirping, ambient wind.

Journal Entry #1

1. Bits and Bytes, 6:30pm (2/5/26)

2. A refrigerator door closing, chatter from a table on the other side of the room, sounds of cooking utensils and ovens from the kitchen areas.

3. The hum of the drink refrigerators, the soda machine being used, ice being dispensed, someone pulling plastic utensils from the dispenser.

4. My friend collecting her garbage from dinner, a three person conversation to my right, the fan overhead and behind me, the table rocking back and forth and hitting the ground because of its uneven legs.

5. Moderately noisy. Much quieter than Bits usually is during the day. Everything starts to blend together as soon as I stop paying attention and becomes white noise.

6. Bustle.

7. The sound of human voices, a fan humming, kitchen utensils banging together.
