2- Farthest- Cars driving by on the road, a motorcycle going by, people talking loudly outside the window

3- Medium- The professor talking, students responding to her, clicking of the keys on a computer, papers shuffling, the clicking of a pen

4- Closest- My breathing, my writing, my toe tapping on the floor, someone whispering to someone else behind me

5- Sound level- low    Sound activity-mostly people talking

6- Attentive

7- talking, papers shuffling, cars going by

Crossing California

Location and Date: Crossing California Avenue, around 11:00am on March 1st

Sounds Heard: Beeping of a construction truck, my own footsteps on the concrete, cars screeching to a stop or simply driving by, the doors of Monroe opening and people starting to talk

1- In Bits & Bytes, Feb 21st, 11:30 am

2- Farthest- people laughing and talking outside, a car driving by, a plane, construction work, police cars

3- Medium- People talking on the other side of Bits, someone dropping their keys, coughing, laughing, people buying food

4- Closest- friends whispering something next to me, my friend sneezing, my breathing, a clock above me

5- Sound level- high, Sound activity- intense

6- Energetic

7- Talking nearby, people buying food, police cars outside. (it was the day the truck ran into the Unispan)

3- 2/15/18-10:23 am-8th floor library

2- clanging of carts rolling, the hum of the elevator, cars driving on the road, the wind on the windows
3- papers turning, a click of a pen, fabric running, a sniffle
4- a chair hitting the floor, pens on paper, a sigh, two sighs, rattling of the hvac
5- almost quiet, white noise
6- peaceful
7- the clicking of the pen, the sighs, the cars on the road

1- February 8th – 11:00 pm – Room 315 in The Hague House in the Netherland

2- Farthest – Cars driving down the street, people talking in the house common room

3- Medium – My roommates talking in the other room, the toilet flushing in the bathroom

4- Closest- my breathing, the running of my fish tank’s motor, the bubbling or the fish tank’s filter, my clock ticking

5- It is very quiet in this room and there is very little sound activity.

6- Tired

7- Clock ticking, fish filter bubbling, cars driving by

 

Journal Entry

1- February 1st – 8:00 pm – Next to the Halal Cart on Oak St.
2- Farthest Away- Cars honking on another street, people yelling to each other somewhere on campus, an airplane in the air.
3- Medium Range- People walking in the parking lot of the Netherlands, busses squeaking as they drive by, cars speeding down the street, someone getting into their car and turning it on.
4- Closest- The sound of my breathing, the buzzing of the engine of the halal cart, the man chopping food in the cart, people ordering food at the cart and talking with the man working there.
5- The sounds weren’t too loud. The sounds occurred at pretty random times but the one exception was the buzzing of the halal cart which was constant.
6- Active
7- The buzzing of the halal cart’s engine, cars driving by, talking from different people.
