Farthest Sound- Nothing at the moment, all of the house has left except for my roommate, myself, and two other people.
Medium Distance- As I right this the wind is howling against my window making ti whistle with the gaps.
Closest Distance- The A/C unite in my room and the flutter of rustling papers on the wall, and my roommate giggling.
Sound Description- peaceful and tranquil.

- Sliding doors opening/closing, cars driving outside, & shopping carts pushed against each other outside.
- Bells ringing at cash registers, cardboard being ripped & broken down, shopping carts rolling around, customers talking & background music playing.
- Time clock beeping, footsteps, paper grocery bags opening, & item scanner beeping.
- The sound level is medium because the sounds aren’t loud enough where they clash and you can’t pinpoint individual sounds. The amount of sound activity was very high because there were at least 10 sounds that I could identify.
- Hectic.

Farthest away: carts moving, child screaming, people talking loudly
Medium: carts moving, people taking things off of the shelf, refrigerator doors opening and closing.
Closest: Friend talking to me, doors opening and closing, pallet carts moving, people talking
Sound Level: Loud and busy

- Date: 3/12/20 – Time: 5:00pm – Location: My Home (Carmel, NY)
- The farthest sounds from me is my mom talking to my grandma downstairs in the kitchen and the television on.
- In the medium range of sound, I can hear someone walking up the staircase towards my room.
- The closest sounds from me is me typing on my laptop and sniffling.
- The general sound level is pretty noisy and the amount of sound activity is large since a lot of noises are happening at once.
- One word to describe the “sound environment” is loud.
- 3 things that are essential to the “sound environment” is my mom talking to my grandma, someone walking up the staircase, and me typing on my laptop.
Journal Entry #6 – Ferguson
1. Date: 3/4/20 – Time: 11:45am – Location: Jersey Mikes
2. The sounds that I can hear furthest away from me are the sound coming from the television, as well as the customers talking as they are ordering their food. Also, I can slightly hear a beeping noise coming from an appliance in the kitchen.
3. The sounds that I can hear in the medium range involve the doors being opened/closed as people are entering/leaving, and people talking to each other as they are walking in. Moreover, I can hear the cashier’s voice as they inform the customers of the total cost of the orders.
4. The sounds closest to me are my friends talking and laughing with each other, and them sipping their beverages from their straws. I can hear the crumbling of wrappers as we all pick up our food, bite into them, and munch on them.
5. The general sound level is moderately loud since there is a good amount of sound activity taking place throughout the building.
6. One word to describe the “sound environment” is “casual”.
7. Three sounds that are essential to the “sound environment” are my friends and I talking and laughing with each other, sipping our beverages, and munching out food.
