4. Closest- music from my headphones, my pencil writing on paper

5. Level- quiet

6. Environment- peaceful

7. Important Sounds- wind, birds, music

Student Center in the Morning

  1. 2/10/17 8:45AM Student Center 2nd floor next to the hair salon
  2. An ominous buzz from industrial kitchen equipment, someone taking out the trash, the ladies at Sbarro’s making food, an espresso machine, the speak of wheels from some sort of cart.
  3. Boots hitting the ground, various chattering, this beeping noise when people use the kiosks, people grabbing utensils, the rumbling of the cart
  4. People passing behind me, the opening and closing of the bathroom door behind me, me typing on the keyboard.
  5. General sound level is low. There’s a moderate level of activity but most of it is very quiet to begin with.
  6. Subdued
  7. Light chatter, the ominouus buzz, people passing by

 

The Blizzard

  2. Far Sounds: Snow plow attempting to clear the parking lot, snow crackling under cars out on Oak street
  3. Medium Sounds: Students crunching snow as they walk to get food, students talking
  4. Close Sounds: the snow deafening all other sounds around me, the wind howling through the air and the trees
  5. Sound Level: Loud
  6. Environment: Apocalyptic
  7. Essential Sounds: Wind, Crunching Snow, Snow Plow

Journal 2

  1. February 9th, 11:30 PM, Hofstra USA
  2. Movement, pots and pans in the kitchen to my right; Galaga music; indistinct conversations at the table to my left and behind me
  3. Brad moving food around his plastic container, eating food. Alex listening to music in his earbuds.
  4. The internal sound of me chewing food
  5. The sound level is loud, it feels busy and the sounds are annoying to me.
