2 – Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.
-Theatre goers chatting
-Music playing over the speakers

3 – Identify and list the sounds at a medium range from you.
-Usher showing someone their seat
-Noah and Abbie talking

4 – Identify and list the sounds closest to you.
-Crinkle of my cookie bag
-Jeremy talking to me about the tablecloth being uneven
-Man sitting on my other side breathing heavily.

5 – Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.
– The sound is a medium level and humming with anticipation for the show’s start.

6 – Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.
– Exciting.

7 – Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.
-People in background chatting
-Noah and Abbie’s conversation
-Jeremy talking to me

2- The sound of Stephanie (Scenic Charge) joking with Beja stage right, Sampson’s footsteps across the raked stage, the sound of Roni flogging the unpainted fruit cart

3- Deanna talking to Anna while they paint the apron, the sound of a drill from under the extension, the chatters of the run crew as they prepare for rehearsal.

4- The sound of my finger fiddling with the trigger on the screw gun, my heart racing as I try not to mess up the “nugget” which I’m countersinking,

5- The sound level here is very high, as everyone is preparing for the open dress rehearsal. Everyone has a task, and they are all racing to finish the final touches.

6- Busy

7- The drill whirring, my heart racing, Sampson’s footsteps, Roni’s flogging (I think that’s what it’s called)

1 – 3/6/14 – 11:00pm – My home

2 – Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.
-The television on a few rooms away
-The refrigerator humming

3 – Identify and list the sounds at a medium range from you.
-Another television
-My cats fighting
-The tingling of the bell on one of the cats collars as he fights

4 – Identify and list the sounds closest to you.
-Squeezing of a plastic water bottle
-Keys clicking on my laptop as I type
-The faint squeak of the light above me.

5 – Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.
– The sound level is at a medium but is very concentrated. My entire house, for the most part, is asleep and still, except for where I am. There is a decent amount of sound activating coming from the direct vicinity that I am in.

6 – Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.
– Tired

7 – Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.
-The television closest to me
-The keys typing
-The refrigerator humming

Sound Journal #6

1. Adams Playhouse, 7:48pm, Thursday, March 6th, 2014.

2. Many conversations happening over each other, undistinctible words. Footsteps along the aile. People fidgeting in their seats.

3. The conversation of a usher and a guest. People flipping their programs. The girls begins me talking about a guy from a bar.

4. Breathing from the person next to me. Shuffling of feet. People texting on their phone. My jacket making noises as it moves against the seat.

5. The sound activity is high. There is lots of movement and conversations. There is a lot going on and there is an exciting feel through the air.

6. Excitement.

7. Flipping of programs. Shuffling of feet. Conversation between a usher and a guest.

Sound Journal #6

1 – 3/6/14 – 5:30pm – Middle Country Public Library, Centereach

2 – Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.
-A library patron’s footsteps as he walks up the stairs loudly.
-The wheels of a cart full of books and DVD’s being pushed toward the elevator.
-The furious clicking of keys on the computer keyboards.

3 – Identify and list the sounds at a medium range from you.
-A kid crying to his mother that he wants to leave.
-The fish tank’s motor up and running smoothly.
-The beeping of the alarm as someone walks past the sensors without checking their item out.

4 – Identify and list the sounds closest to you.
-A Librarian asking, “How may I help you?”
-The conveyor belts moving as I return the videogames I borrowed.
-Librarians helping a patron to find a book she wants.

5 – Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.
-There was a lot of activity occurring where I was in the library, as there was a program going on. The library was very busy today, and seemed like it was louder than normal as well.

6 – Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.
-Active.

7 – Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.
-The conveyor belts operating.
-The sounds of the cart being pushed.
-The motor in the fish tank running.
