Emergency Room

Context: My brother was bitten in the face by a dog and had to get a few stitches.

  1. 2/28/17, 10:48 PM, Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport MA
  2. Farthest: Murmuring in the halls, nurses talking, police officers are there
  3. Medium: people passing by the curtain that it closing the room off. Nurses talking to other nurses or their patients. Beeping sounds (the elevator chiming), the opening and closing of an automatic door.
  4. Closest: The physicians assistant is talking to my brother, trying to decide whether or not to close the wounds, which would prevent scarring but make them more vulnerable to infection. She doesn’t usually close animal bites. She could also prescribe him antibiotics. My mom really doesn’t want his face to be scarred, Tim thinks it would look badass.
  5. It was quiet when we first arrived here but it’s now noticeably louder as more people are coming in and out. There is a lot of sound activity.
  6. Nervous
  7. ambient hospital noises (beeping), footsteps of medics and physicians, physicians assistant talking to my brother.
