  1. Location: Living Room of my house, 4:14 pm 2/24/23
  2. Sounds furthest away: Planes flying overhead, Cars driving down the turnpike behind me, wind in the distance, cars revving, horns honking
  3. Sounds at Medium range: Cars driving past my house and down the street, The sound of my storm door banging against the porch railing due to wind, my roommate typing down the hall, sound of garbage being thrown in the dumpster of Popeyes, woman talking on the phone on the sidewalk.
  4. Sounds closest to me: Me typing on the computer, the sound of me sipping my tea, phone buzz notification, me breathing, my knees popping, the chair shifting under my weight.
  5. Around me in the house, the sound is very quiet. There is, however, a lot of loud sounds in the distance, mainly due to the cars and busy roads. By the time those sounds get to my ear, they are dampened and muffled.

Farthest Sounds: Rain hitting the ground, residents entering through the turnstile, the RSR talking

Medium Distance Sounds: The sliding door to the outside opening and closing, the door to the RSR booth opening and closing, and the air conditioner.

Closest Sounds: The sound of residents opening their mailbox, the other RA on duty providing residents with their packages, The sound of keys rattling on the wall

General Sound Level: Low

Room Definition: Moving

Essential Sounds: Residents entering the turnstile, the sliding door opening and closing, the door of the RSR booth.

2/19/20 – 1:00pm – ABP

Farthest Sounds: The air conditioner softly blowing air, The workers calling out the names of the orders, the sound of cards swiping at registers, the soft playing music

Medium Distance Sounds: There is a loud table telling jokes with each other and laughing out loud, many other people talking,doors are constantly opening and closing with loud gusts of wind each time one is opened, the sound of chairs moving constantly

Closest Sounds: The sound of rubber as I move in a booth, the sound of typing on keyboards all around me, and the sound of the water fountain right behind me.

General Sound Level: Loud

Room Definition: Noisy

Essential Sounds: Chairs moving constantly, Loud people talking, and doors opening and closing

Campus on a Windy Night

Sounds – Wind, people talking, doors opening and closing, cars driving past.

2/10/20 – 2:00pm – Campus on a Rainy Day

Farthest Sounds: The sounds of cars driving around the parking lot and Hempstead Turnpike, car horns honking, a police siren driving past

Medium Distance Sounds: People walking back and forth as they go to class, the sound of rain falling, rain hitting trees and the ground, people talking

Closest Sounds: The sound of stepping on the wet ground, wind hitting my ear, 

General Sound Level: Low

Room Definition: Rainy

Essential Sounds: Rain falling, Rain hitting the trees and ground, and the sound of stepping on the wet ground.

Field Recording #1 – A Quiet Day in the Black Box

In this recording, you can hear the air flowing trough the theater, a worker banging on pipes, blowing air on pipes, and faint voices coming from the shop.
