Location: Friends House at 7:30pm

Identifiable Sounds: the drying machine running, uno cards slapping on the table, cards shuffling, people talking and laughing.

*gotten permission from the two people that’s are also in the recording.

  1. 02/20 – 4:00 – Student Center
  2. Farthest: Music on speakers, food being made and students ordering
  3. Medium: People talking at tables, chairs/tables being shifted or moved and crinkling of food wrappers
  4. Closet: Friends talking at my table, people eating and food being moved around the table
  5. General sound level: Very loud
  6. Buzzing
  7. People ordering food, chairs/tables being shifted and music on speaker

  1. Date, time, & location: February 22, 7:30pm, Lowe 216
  2. Far Sounds: footsteps in the small hallway, office doors closing
  3. Closer sounds: Friends talking about current projects, 216s door opening and closing, desk drawers creaking as they open
  4. Closest Sounds: typing on my laptop, listening to Weezer, flipping through pages in my binder
  5. Sound level: sound level was minimal, when their were voices they were at a normal medium tone, but other than the talking and music it was quiet
  6. Description: familair
  7. Essential Sounds: office doors closing, friends talking about their work, music on my laptop.

  2. Farthest Sounds – Wind blowing outside, car horn, Opening and closing of doors on this floor, floor below, and floor above.
  3. Medium Range – Dishes clattering, vegetables being cut, people talking, music playing at a low volume.
  4. Closest – Eggs frying on a pan, Microwave hum, my voice singing along to the song
  5. Sound Level is moderately high and there is a moderate amount of Sound Activity
  6. Word – “familial”

2.  Identify sounds farthest from you:

  • the sound of the sink running in the bathroom
  • voices from the other room
  • feet walking in the common room

3.  Identify sounds at medium range from you:

  • the tv playing in the common room
  • the door to the suite opening and closing
  • the my friend playing her piano

4.  Identify sounds closet to you:

  • the music coming from the pandora station on the computer
  • the rustle of the popcorn bag as my friend eats
  • the crunch of the popcorn
  • the clicking of my keys

5.  Describe the level of sound activity:  The level of activity is high.  There are a lot of people over, each doing their own thing, creating their own noises.

6.  One word to describe to describe the sound environment: Fun

7.  Three sounds that make the sound environment:

  • The music
  • the tv sounds
  • the piano

1. 2/3/2012 12:12am 1208 Estabrook.
2. The door of the room opening and closing.
3. The sound of joysticks rattling softly, The snorts of breath from my friends, friends swearing and cheering.
4. The game sounds of NBA Jams (basketball dribbling, slam dunks, groovy music, applause, man grunts.)
5. The game is the loudest and most constant sound, the voices match it when they speak. Very active interaction between the voices and the game.

7. The Applause from the Game, the sound of the joysticks rattling, the cheers and swears of the people playing the game.
