Sound Observation 8 – Bits and Bits 9 AM

2- Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.

–  The sound of the kitchen , the sound of people in other parts of the dining hall.

3- Identify and list the sounds at medium range from you

– The TV News Station going blahblahblahblahblah, A man behind me talking

4- Identify and list the sounds closest to you.

– Patrick drinking coffee, Patrick doing his Bits and Bites commercial, Patrick breathing heavily, Me typing, Me gasping for air as I cry.

5- Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.

– The sound level is quiet. There are a few louder noises than others, such as the TV and the man, but its all very still sounding.

6- Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.

– Classy (because people are being polite and there aren’t many people in general.)

7- Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.

– The kitchen noise, the TV, Patrick sitting in my booth.

Sound Observation #9

1) Wednesday March 28, 2012 – 12:00p.m. – Alliance Hall

2) Furthest away from me, down the hall, someone is playing “Ignition” by R&B singer R. Kelly very loudly while people chat.

3) At medium range is my R.A.’s door opening and closing going to ask said hall-mate to turn the music down.

4) Nearest to me is my roommate asking who is playing the music and the television in our room.

5) There is much activity and it is loud, especially for noon on a wednesday.

6) Soulful

7) The music, door closing, and tv playing must all be kept in tact to keep the momentas it is.

3- Music coming from the speakers, the sound of my friend’s voice singing, stomping, the chair moving

– Sit, close eyes and allow the sounds around you to envelope you, listen for all of the sound in your environment.

2- conference room opening and closing. footsteps in the hallway
3- music playing from a computer
4- Beja snoring
5- not too loud

7- music from the computer, doors opening and closing, Beja snoring in the studio

Time: 4:20pm

Location: Coffee place in the library
Farthest noises: People talking, doors opening and closing, elevator doors, chairs scraping on the floor

Medium noises: Footsteps, change jingling, backpacks rustling, coffee being made

Closes sounds: My breathing, cell phone going off, hum of the refrigerator

 

General Sound:Rushed
