Listen to

Location: Main floor of Breslin

Sounds: Talking, singing, music, people walking.

1)   3/22/11- 6:15 pm- my friends room in C square.

2)   There are sounds of people talking and passing by outside in the hallway, the window is open so I could hear a person screaming outside, cars passing by, doors opening and closing in the hallway.

3)   Footsteps, bathroom door opening and closing, talking, toilet flush, sink running, super smash music, refrigerator door opening and closing, pouring of water, and opening and closing of drawers.

4)   The TV is on, the noise from the wind coming through the window, typing, people talking at close distance, drawers opening and closing in the room I am in, the sound of someone sleeping (heavy breathing not really snoring), fish tank bubbles and filter noise.

5)   The general sound level is low and the sound activity is pretty minimal except for several small sounds.

6)   Relaxed

7)   Person sleeping, low talking voices, super smash music in the background

1) 3/10/11-2:45 p.m.-Hammer Lab

2) The sounds furthest away from me included the hum of the printers, the squeak of the printers
as they printed paper, creaking of the door opening and closing, a beep sound as people swiped
into the lab, a janitor emptying a trash can and slamming it back on the ground, someone using a
stapler, and student employees talking to each other behind the desk.

3) The sounds in medium range from me included fingers typing on computer keyboards, chirp
of someone’s phone receiving a text, car keys hitting the tabletop, jackets rustling, footsteps, and
coughing.

4) My knuckles cracking, my fingers typing on the keyboard, the knob on my mouse grinding as
it scrolled, and my mouse sliding across the table would be considered sounds closest to me.

5) The sound level was low because people were concentrating on their work. The lab is usually
a very quiet place. There were sounds coming from many sources, but many of the sounds were almost inaudible.

6) Meek

7) The hum and squeak of the printers, typing on computer keyboards, and the beep of the swipe
into the lab.

Sounds- Talking, singing, music, typing.

1) 3/1/11-4:00 p.m.- table near the side entrance of Au Bon Pain

2) The sounds furthest away from me included faint music, muffled talking on the other side of the cafe, and the front entrance door clicking as it closed.

3) The sounds in medium range from me included keys near the register jingling, thuds of food and cups hitting the bottom of the garbage can, the side entrance door clicking as it opened and closed, people talking at tables around me, shoes shuffling, and a hand slamming on a table.

4) My friend slurping soup, my sandwich wrapper crinkling, and my cup tapping the table would be considered sounds closest to me.

5) The sound level was extremely loud because there were many students at Au Bon Pain when afternoon classes ended.  The sound of people talking was the most overwhelming sound in the cafe. The sound activity was high, but many sounds were drowned out by the sound of people talking.

6) Dense

7) People talking, shoes shuffling, and the door clicking as it frequently opened and closed.

3) The sound of people unwrapping candy and chewing, a newspaper rustling, talking, water pouring into glass from a blue water cooler, and shoes clicking would qualify as medium range sounds.

4) My pen clicking, seltzer water fizzing, and my own breathing would be considered sounds closest to me.

5) The sound level was fairly quiet, but the sound activity was high. The sounds I heard were not very loud, but sounds were coming from all over the lounge from many different sources.
