Journal Entry #6 – Quiet Drive

  1. Date: 3/5/18, Time: about 9:10pm, Location: driving down Hempstead Ave
  2. Sounds farthest: cars beeping horns, cars whooshing by
  3. Sounds at medium range: my car engine revving, tires turning
  4. Sounds closest: internal thoughts, air/heat blowing from my AC
  5. Level of sound activity: Mostly quiet (unless the windows are open)
  6. Longing (for home)

Journal Entry

1- 3 am-3.7.18-Hammer Lab
2- The printer humming and the cars passing on the street
3- a boy tossing and turning on a couch trying to sleep, yawning, footsteps
4- Keys typing on 2 different computers, music coming from my laptop, a zipper being tugged

5- Quiet, very minimal noise and movement

farthest- the cars driving on the slippery and wet roads, the hum of the heater/Ac in the Hammer Lab, a student snoring in the back corner

middle- the noisy computer monitor that is clearly broken, Mackenzie off to the side with her sound project, the printers going off near us

close- my keyboard clicking, my music in my ear, my stomach grumbling

general level- almost nonexistent

1 word- ghost town

3 things- clicking keyboard, Mackenzie in the Background, The rush of the cars outside us.

  2. Farthest: Sirens, Cars driving by, the street lights buzzing
  3. Medium: people walking behind me, someone walking toward me, a car driving next to me
  4. Closest: my headphones playing music, my breath, my footsteps
  5. General sound level: low
    General sound activity: medium
  6. One word description: impatient
  7. 3 important sounds: Sirens, the car driving next to me, and my music playing in my headphones
