-My footsteps, the sound of me kicking a rock on my way, some people talking outside of Dutch Treats, the sound of the music as I enter Dutch Treats, a faint bit of ambient chatter as I walk through Dutch Treats, and the rustle of a bag of Skittles as I pick it up (It’s interesting to hear the difference between a lack of sound and the sound heard in a more active environment)

Identify the location of the clip – Design Studio
Identify the sounds heard in the clip – In this clip you can hear the initial sound of Rachel pulling out a lysol wipe from the yellow container. This is heard with a tap open of the lid and then short jerks and pulls of the wipe until it comes free from the container. From here one can hear the sound of her scrubbing down her desk and pulling up different pieces of gesso and paint from making her last color model. You can hear a swooshing noise as she cleans the desk and then a squeaking and more aggressive pattern as she works harder to get spots off of her desk.

Location: Madison Square Garden Arena — Tuesday, April 16th, 2013, 9:36 pm
Sounds Heard: My boyfriend and I went to see Muse at Madison Square Garden, and I was so surprised by the quality of the sound. The acoustics in this huge arena are amazing, and the show’s audio was set up perfectly to feel so powerful and throbbing and impactful, but to not hurt your ears at all, even as close to the stage as we were. I recorded a snippet from one of my favorite songs, “Hysteria” — I was also very impressed by how good the band sounds live, especially with Matt Bellamy’s fluid vocals. Occasional elated screaming can also be heard throughout the song.

Identify the sounds:
Well, because this class is Medieval Europe, my professor (Doubleday) likes to play medieval music while we work on group projects. So you can hear him speak about the project, and then you can hear the music come in. You can hear someone discussing what she wants to do, a page turn, miscellaneous background noise, someone coughing, and more people in the class discuss the project. After the professor stops speaking, you can hear more people start to discuss. I decided to record this because I always find that the music he plays is fun, and creates a nice atmosphere for the discussions among groups. I also like his accent and the fact that there is a lot going in on this clip, but you can still focus in and hear him speak, or the music, or the girl next to me speaking, or the background noises; whichever you choose to focus on can be heard clearly and distinctly despite all the other noises simultaneously going on.
