Identify the location of the clip – Design Studio
Identify the sounds heard in the clip – In this clip you can hear the initial sound of Rachel pulling out a lysol wipe from the yellow container. This is heard with a tap open of the lid and then short jerks and pulls of the wipe until it comes free from the container. From here one can hear the sound of her scrubbing down her desk and pulling up different pieces of gesso and paint from making her last color model. You can hear a swooshing noise as she cleans the desk and then a squeaking and more aggressive pattern as she works harder to get spots off of her desk.
1) Studio 3/14/13, 5:24pm
2) Phil and Beja being ridiculous/singing/who knows, Abbie being cranky with them, Jack rustling papers and glue, the air conditioner whirring, backpacks moving, typing
3) Geena playing sound projects across the desk for me, Nic muttering something tiredly, my chair squeaking.
4) My own breathing, typing, my elbows hitting the edge of the desk.
5) The sound level is medium high, but the sound activity is very high.
6) Abrasive
7) As I am so tired, the sound projects, the air vent, and the rustling are all too much for my head.
1) 2/20/13, 6:08pm, Studio
2) Indistinguishable movement from the conference room next door and the hall. Something that sounds like a cat meowing outside. Cars pulling away for the night
3) Phil’s footsteps and shuffling of papers, Phil clipping a carbineer, the air blowing out of the vent, Noah rustling canary paper and the scratch of his pencil, the clock ticking extremely quietly
4) My typing and breathing. My jacket rubbing against the edge of the desk as I type.
5) The sound level is low, but there is a fair amount of sound activity.
6) Focused
6) Pencil Scratching, rustling of papers, clock ticking
1. Tuesday, February 5 – 8:46 PM – Studio
2. Lee typing on the computer, bad rap playing on Lee’s computer on shuffle, then a movie trailer playing
3. The flipping of paper, Noah’s pencils (both the scratching of the pencils on his paper, and the ‘clunk’ of the pencils whenever he puts one down)
4. The heater right above me, on full blast, but starting to slow down
5. The sound level is fairly low, and there is not a lot of sound. The hum of the heater is the only constant sound that’s always heard, with a handful of other sounds floating in and out. The sound from Lee’s computer also fluctuates as the music and trailer build and fall in intensity.
6. Calm
7. The heater, the scratching of the pencils, the quiet music
1- 9:30 PM in the design studio, Monday April 2, 2012
2- Pedro and Beep using pads pencils, t squares, etc at the far corner of the room.
3- Chairs moving, different music from various peoples headphones, beja and katie’s watercolors.
4- Whirr of my hard drive, Lee typing.
5- There is constant noise, no question, and the T-squares are especially loud when they clang against the table edges. Despite this, it is relatively quiet for the studio because for once there is little to no conversation, everyone engrossed in their work instead. (also, no freshmen). With only two days left to complete all of the major projects, there is no more time for idle conversation. When the room is still for a few seconds, the scratch of brushes on watercolor is an amazing sound, lost again as soon as somebody or something moves elsewhere in the room.
6- Productive
7- Watercolor brushes in cup, T-Squares against the table, paper rustling and moving around.
