  1. 4/30/23 in my dorm with the windows open
  2. Farthest Away: A plane flying, people talking on the ground outside, a car backfiring, several cars driving
  3. Medium Range: A sink running, people opening and closing doors, the elevator beeping
  4. Closest: Rain on my open window, wind, my blinds moving a little in the wind, leaves rustling
  5. Sound Level: Quiet
  6. Sound Activity: Occasional sounds, constant rain
  7. One Word: Relaxing
  8. Essential Sounds: Rain on the window, the sink running, cars driving

1. 4/14/23 in my dorm on the phone with my family

2. Farthest Away: People talking in the hall, my dad frying something on the stove, my dogs barking outside (also via the call)

3. Medium Range: My neighbor’s door opening and closing, my mom shouting across the kitchen so I can hear her, the trees scraping up against my window

4. Closest: My HVAC unit blowing loudly (and uselessly), my sister talking to me, the sound of rustling every time I move around

5. Sound Level: Loud (because of my family)

6. Sound Activity: Constant

7. One Word: Chaotic

8. Essential Sounds: My dad frying something, my mom shouting across the kitchen so I can hear her, and my sister talking to me

2. Farthest Away: The oven clicking as it heats up, people talking a few tables away, people walking around

3. Medium Range: The sound of air coming through the hood above the stove, a clock ticking

3. Closest: My friend preparing to make cookies, a plastic bowl falling on the floor, my friend laughing and talking to me

4. Sound Level: Soft

5. Sound Activity: Pretty calm and infrequent

6. One Word: Relaxing

7. Essential Sounds: The sound of air in the hood above the stove, my friend talking, and the people talking a few tables away

  5. Sound Level: Not quiet, but not overwhelmingly loud
  6. Sound Activity: Busy and hurried, but also casual
  7. One Word: Welcoming
  8. Essential Sounds: Bags rustling, employees laughing and joking, ice cream restocking
