Location: on the steps of an Airbnb, the location of a senior film shoot

Farthest Sounds: Cars passing on the road nearby, a person flickering a lighter to light a cigarette in the yard, people talking inside the house

Medium Sounds: Crickets chirping, a car pulling into the driveway, car doors opening and closing, the car being locked, people loading bags out of trunks, tree branches moving wildly in the wind

Closest Sounds: The wind blowing loudly, the door opening and closing, people’s footsteps as they enter and exit the location

Sound Description/Level: Medium and hectic. There are a lot of active noises but not overwhelming.

Important Sounds: People’s footsteps, the wind blowing, cars passing by

Friday, March 26th 3:00

Location: sitting in my car on Hofstra’s Campus, Outside of Breslin 

Farthest Sounds: People speaking to each other as they pass by, people watching videos on their phones as they pass by

Medium Sounds: cars driving by(the tires going over the asphalt), music blasting from cars, squeaky breaks, and horns honking(lol) 

Closest Sounds: the surprisingly strong wind blowing, plants and trees rustling 

Sound Description/Level: Medium. There is a lot of life going on which gives it a busier feeling but it all kind of blends in the background. 

Important Sounds: The tires on the asphalt, people talking and the trees rustling from the wind. 

Journal Entry 4-Juliana Battaglia

Friday, March 26th 1:30pm

Location: Mount Sinai Hospital emergency room (I’m fine! Just had to get a test)

Farthest Sounds: The beating of heart monitors far off down the halls. Footsteps. The rolling sounds of machines, wheelchairs, and beds.

Medium Sounds: Papers flipping around. Doors opening and closing. The ding of the elevator as it opens and closes.

Closest Sounds: The chatter of the staff and other patients in the waiting room. People settling into chairs. The sound of the intercom paging staff members.

Sound Description/Level: Medium. Hectic. Lots of motion creating noise but nothing overbearingly loud.

Important Sounds: The beating of heart monitors, the rolling sounds of the various equipment and machines, the intercom.
