Hofstra Drama 20 – Sound for the Theatre

Location: My kitchen, Friday 3/18, 4 pm.

Sounds Heard:

• Water running
• Clanging of dishes in the sink
• Scrubbing of sponge 
• Banging of cutting board against the sink 

Location: The Shakespeare Garden, 1:39pm

Sounds Heard:

• Birds chirping
• People walking by
• Typing
• Wind whooshing

Location: Kitchen, Hempstead NY

Sounds Heard:

• Shuffling of feet on floor
• Opening of refrigerator
• Bathroom fan whirring
• Shower running
• Footsteps padding on ceiling from upstairs 
• Refrigerator being closed
• Soft scuffle of chair being pushed on the floor

Location: My kitchen, Hempstead 9:49pm

Sounds:

• Opening and closing of fridge
• Moving/putting containers away in fridge
• Housemate saying “hello” to me
• Group talking in the distance
• The hum of the refrigerator 
• Cardboard boxes rubbing against each other

Location: Table at Starbucks in the Student Center, 12:46 pm

Sounds Heard: 

• “The Greatest” by Sia playing 
• Avery (who gave permission to be recorded) singing/humming/and scatting along to the song 
• Avery talking
• Chairs moving 
• Food being unwrapped
• Keys clanging on a table nearby
• Muffled talking and laughing of people in the student center
• Beeping of Starbucks microwave 
• People talking at the table next to us

Location and Time: Studio A in LHComm, 6:19 during a Thursday Nite Live rehearsal

Sounds heard:

• People talking about sketches
• Far off equipment rolling across the floor
• Lines being rehearsed
• Soft typing

Location: Room in Constitution Hall (Chloe’s room)

Sounds Heard:

• People talking in the hallway
• Chloe talking out into the hallway from the doorway
• Anna adjusting in the bean bag chair
• Anna shaking her drink up vigorously
• Anna putting the drink down on the hard floor
• Anna playing with the pop socket on the back of her phone

Inside Car, New England Freeway CT, 6:50pm

• The heater at a medium setting 
• The tires on the road
• The car going over a few bumps, making the tires make a jumping sound
• The blinker handle being clicked on and off 
• The blinker going
• Other cars passing by my car

Location: Outside of the Hofstra Fitness Center by the baseball field, 6:10 pm
Sounds Heard: 

• clanging of flagpole
• faint voices of people walking by
• strong wind
• rustling of leaves and plastic bags against the fence 
• car zooming down the turnpike

   

Time/location: my dorm room in Constitution Hall, 6:31pm

Sounds heard:

• Wind rushing outside the window
• Blinds shaking back and forth
• Paper shuffling and being blown around
• Chair creaking
• Me chewing/eating dinner
• Soft breathing
