Journal Entry #5 – Ferguson

1. Date: 2/26/20 – Time: 9:30pm – Location: Intramural Fields

2. Farthest away from me, I can hear the wind constantly blowing through the trees.  I can hear the engines of cars that are passing by from time to time as well.  Moreover, I can faintly hear people talking as they are walking past the fields.

3. In a medium range of sound, I can hear some of my teammates talking and laughing with each other.  Also, I can hear the frisbee either being caught or forcefully hitting the ground due to the wind, and the music as it is being played from a Bluetooth speaker.

4. The sounds closest to me include my footsteps when I am running up and down the field.  I can hear my teammates as they are calling out plays to me.  Furthermore, there are internal sounds present as I am constantly telling myself to keep my energy level up and to play at my best ability.

5. The general sound level is quite noisy due to the music from the speaker being a bit loud.  There is a good amount of sound activity going on as my teammates and I are constantly talking, yelling, and running around on the field.

6. One word to describe the “sound environment” is “vibrant”.

7. Three sounds that are essential to the “sound environment” are the music coming from the speaker, a slapping noise as the frisbee is being caught, and my teammates talking to one another with words of encouragement.
