Farthest Sound: Rumblings coming from the room upstairs, kids jumping and messing around

Medium Sound: People outside my window in the parking lot. Talking about assorted drama.

Closest Sound: Assortment of songs by Trixie Mattel and the rumble of the heater. Also my own voice

Sound Amount: Minimal, most of it coming from my music and myself.

One Word Description: Serenity

Essential Sounds: the music since it wouldn’t have the same energy without it, my voice because singing along adds most of the calmness, the sound of the heater because it balances out the background

When & Where: 01/30/20 8:34pm Netherlands Core

Far Sounds: Music playing, dancers talking and laughing, shuffling of clothes, occasional laughter, a door opening and closing, impacts, someone speaking another language, kitchen staff yelling order numbers

Medium Sounds: Squeaking of leather seats, conversation, a television show playing, keys jingling, footsteps, Velcro ripping, jacket zippers, beeps from the food ordering terminals

Close Sounds: A Different conversation, chair legs squeaking against the floor, someone on the phone

General Level: Medium, occasionally gets louder as different groups walk to and fro and the television commercials come on.

One-word Description: Casual

Hague House

Location: Netherlands North, Hague House, 1/30/20, 7:33 PM

Farthest: Car’s driving by in the distance on oak street, the wind slightly blowing and making the trees outside my window rattle and shake, a plane flying overhead.

Medium: The buzzing of the two fridges in my living room, not much at this range tonight. For once Hague is relatively quiet. 

Closest: My roommate chewing on Swedish fish and playing solitaire on her computer, so there’s some quite clicks every few minutes.

General Sound Level: Quite with a few hints of sound here and there, the loudest thing is my roommate and even that isn’t very loud. Its a calm quite thruway night.

Journal Entry #1 Knight

Location: Lowe 106, 1/30/20 6:52 (right before a rehearsal)

Close: Laptop keys clicking, soft unknown music barely audible, dropped a phone on the ground, sipping empty iced Starbucks drink (very annoying), chair scooting back

Medium: Director talking about the script to SM, pages of script turning, water bottle being unscrewed, more laptop keys clicking

Far: About 20 actors chatting, lots of laughing, shoes dropping and hitting floor, feet stomping, water bottle(?) knocked over (metallic sound of something falling), chairs unstacking and being set on floor, some actress singing Bodack Yellow in monotone voice, script thrown on ground, another singing Mariah Carey All I Want for Christmas, some dancing stomps to the beat of AIWfC, someone making chipmunk squeaking noises???, door opening and slamming closed as people walk in or leave (a push bar that makes metallic clicking noise when pushed)

Sound Level: High (some voices and laughs stand above as much louder), feels very busy and anxious, too much going on to focus on any one conversation or read email.

Farthest away: Pizza being prepared in Brooklyn slice, people talking on the unispan and over by the Td bank ATM, cart rolling across the tile

Medium Range: Pride guide table trying to get new members,  footsteps getting closer, keys jangling

Closest: keyboard tapping, boots hitting the tile, computer fan whirring, someone on the phone

General sound Level and amount of sound Activity Description: There are waves of active sounds within the student center especially when there is a large group of people walking past. The sound level is at a medium volume.

One word description: busy
