  1. Location: 2/14/19, 6:30pm, Student Center
  2. Farthest Sounds: beeping sounds from kiosks, food workers talking, coffee machine at Starbucks, footsteps
  3. Medium sounds: forks/silverware being dispensed, people in conversation, laughter, metal chairs moving
  4. Closest sounds: fizz of soda inside bottle, music playing through headphones, people eating their food near me, backpacks unzipping, person speaking on the phone
  5. The sound level is medium, it’s the dinner hour so more people are coming into the student center to get food and meet up with friends
  6. One word description: casual
  7. Three essential sounds: kiosk beeping, food workers talking, metal chairs moving

Sounds Farthest Away: Trash being thrown away, mild footsteps.

Sounds Medium Range: People chatting at tables, shuffling of feet.

Sounds Close Range: People performing, people laughing, TV blaring.

The general sound level is high, large level of sound activity.

One-word Description: Raucous.

Three Essential Sounds: TV blaring, people performing, people laughing.

Thursday, February 7, 2019 6:30 pm Kitchen, Vanderpoel Hall

-Far: sirens

-Medium: wind against the building, people talking in the lounge, indistinct television noise

-Close: radiator running, someone typing at the kitchen table, tap running, water boiling

-Sound Level: medium, there’s sound all over the place, from all sides, but it doesn’t feel oppressive

-One Word: lively

-Essential Sounds: people talking, water boiling, television in the background

  2. Farthest: Cars, main road
  3. Medium: The wind through my window, my mother making breakfast, my hot water boiling (for my French Press)
  4. Close: Birds, Music playing off my computer, my breathing
  5. Sound Level: Low: Most noise that I could hear, or was paying attention to was in my room or right outside my window
  6. One word: Tranquil
  7. Essential sounds: Music, breakfast, Water Boiling
