–  The sound of jazzy celtic music in the background, chitter chatter of people talking softly

– People talking, tea cups/mugs being picked up and put down

4- Identify and list the sounds closest to you.

– My MOM 🙂  !!!!, tea pouring out of tea kettle, tea sipped/slurped from tea cup, scraping of a spoon against a little tin kettle of honey for the tea, low nom-nom sound of a scone being eaten, my breath as I become more full.

5- Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.

– Very low level of sound including people chattering, and very relaxed environment with calming music at the perfect volume

– RELAXED

Journal Entry #10

1. 3/31/12  Bar Mitzvah  4:00pm

2. The sounds farthest away from me are people talking across the room and the DJ’s voice over the microphone.

3. The sounds at a medium distance are the music playing out of the speakers and the kids at nearby tables complaining about the food and laughing.

4. The sounds closest to me are silverware hitting plates and my friends saying how good the food is.

5. The sound level is extremely loud and the sound is constant.

6. I would describe this sound environment as “celebratory”.

7. Three sounds essential to the sound environment are the DJ’s voice on the mic, the music from the speakers, and the sound of people talking and enjoying themselves.  Sounds like a successful bar mitzvah celebration!

1. 3:31pm, 4/3/12, Breslin Hall

2. Doors opening and shutting in hallway, some sort of large machinery/vehicle moving heavy things outside.

3. Royston speaking, generator running, the moving of the whiteboard, tearing paper from notebooks, chairs swiveling, students asking questions in the front of the classroom.

4. A cap being screwed back onto a soda bottle, a metal bracelet sliding against the desk, pages turning, a pen being dropped, backpack zipper.

5. The sound level is above moderate and there is a great amount of sound activity.

6. Restless.

7. Royston speaking, the chairs moving sporadically, papers shoveling.
