2) Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.
People in the food service area laughing loudly at an unknown joke, the gates of the food service area slamming shit, the metal bars jingling, The Lackmann manager exclaiming “Estamos Cerrados!” – we are closed
3)- Identify and list the sounds at a medium range from you.
The bus people placing new silverware into the holders, chairs dragging as people get up to leave, girls a few tables over making fun of the song “Let me take a selfie”
4- Identify and list the sounds closest to you (You can include internal sounds if noticed or relevant).
Me, sniffling my nose, feeling illness come on, Christina clacking at her Mac, someone else in our group scraping their knife and fork together, Christina gasping as she gets a text saying P-Safe was looking for her.
5- Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.
There is a lot of sound going on as the Student Center closes for the evening. The level is high, although muffled a bit by the acoustics of the room. There is a lot of different sounds happening, so the sound activity is very high.
6- Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.

7- Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.
Location: The Elevator in Nassau Residence Hall
Sound Heard: A really cool new sound I found I could make using just my lips and my tongue tapping against the roof of my mouth, no air flow through the mouth is required.
Location: Living Room
Sounds Heard: A stick being poked into a Styrofoam food box repeatedly and at different speeds and rhythms. The TV is also interestingly distorted in the background. At one point, a friend yells “Yahoo!”, and then another says “Hello, Mr. Jackhammer” in response to the annoying noise of the poking stick.
