Field Recording #1

This was taken while I was walking back to a house on February 28th. There was a ton of snow on the ground and it had become more solid than soft, creating a nice crunching sound. In addition, you can barely hear a few cars driving by on the street nearby. This was recorded right next to the law school in the parking lot.

Sound journal

  1. it is 11:02 I am laying in bed
  2. 2. the sounds furthest from me are the cars on the turnpike. my window is open so I can also hear the wind and sometimes a plane overhead
  3. At medium range I can hear my neighbors in their backyard, they are talking and laughing
  4. The sounds closest to me are the podcast that I’m listening to quietly on my phone and the sound of my stomach (I think I’m still hungry)
  5. There is a lot of sound activity but it is all pretty quiet overall
  6. Calm
  7. The podcast, the laughter from next-door, and the wind are essential
