Location and Time: Bits and Bytes 2:40pm

 

Far Sounds: door shutting, faint singing, someone taking a napkin out of the dispenser

 

Medium Sounds: trays banging, fro yo machine running, cashier yelling “next”

 

Close Sounds: people conversing, my typing, people laughing

 

Sound Description/Level: It sounds like bits and bytes right before everyone is out for the weekend, somewhat busy but not as much as a lunch rush

 

One Word: vibrant

Date: Feb 25

 

Location and Time: my car, 11:45am

 

Far Sounds: people driving up and down the turnpike, 

 

Medium Sounds: car going by my house, wheels sloshing in the snow

 

Close Sounds: my car running, vent blowing heat, wind blowing against my car

 

Sound Description/Level: it sounds like the beginning of a snow storm, just before its about to snow

One Word: cozy

Final Field Recording~~~~Kaitlyn Bancroft

Location: Al Hirschfeld Theatre during intermission at a performance of Moulin Rouge

Sounds Heard: 

  • constant chatter from all directions 
  • background music from the Moulin Rouge sound track or as learned in this class the “framing effect. “
  •  announcement bells that intermission is coming to an end and to go back to your seats.

The level and activity of sound was extremely active, varied, and loud

Location and Time: My bedroom, 5:15 p.m

Far Sounds: Car being started outside, footsteps upstairs, ceiling creaking with the steps, bird chirping outside

Medium Sounds: Someone vacuuming upstairs, aluminum can being tossed into recycling bin, refrigerator being opened and closed

Close Sounds: Laundry machine clanging, side door opening and closing, side door being locked, metal water bottle being placed on kitchen table, computer whirring, laptop keys typing

Sound Description/Level: Moderate, not too loud but lively

One Word Description: Busy

Most Important Sounds: Laundry machine clanging, footsteps upstairs, computer whirring

Far Sounds: Cars driving in the distance, faint electrical buzzing of lights

Medium Sounds: Gusts of wind, car door closing and locking outside, voices talking outside

Close Sounds: Anna picking her press on nails off, Andrew walking in the hallway, closing the bathroom door

Sound Description/Level: Low, relaxed

One Word Description: Composed
