4/07/2018, 4PM, The LIRR.

Farthest: The sound of the train pushing through the air, it is hard to hear sounds in the distance because we are moving so fast.  I do hear the occasional open and close of the bathroom door on the opposite end of the section I am sitting in.

Medium: The sound of the conductor’s hole punch clicking away at the train tickets.  There is also a conversation going on that involves a man with a very loud laugh.

Closest: I can hear the person sitting next to me chew her gun and tap on her phone screen.  I also hear a very interesting conversation about a woman’s recent job interview and how she needs to get her green card if she wants to work for the American branch of the company rather than the Canadian branch.  I also here the rumbling of the trains wheels on the tracks below me.

The general sound level is very high and busy. There is no moments of silence and many noises are happening at once.

The hole puncher, the train on the tracks, and the various conversations being had at different distances from me.

Field Recording 9

Pathway outside of Dunkin Donuts.

You will hear ice cubes shaking around in my coffee as I walk and the wind blowing into the microphone of my voice recorder.  You may also hear faint footsteps walking by and a tiny jingle of someone’s keys towards the beginning of the clip.
