Location and Time: my car, 11:45am

 

Far Sounds: people driving up and down the turnpike, 

 

Medium Sounds: car going by my house, wheels sloshing in the snow

 

Close Sounds: my car running, vent blowing heat, wind blowing against my car

 

Sound Description/Level: it sounds like the beginning of a snow storm, just before its about to snow

One Word: cozy

Final Field Recording~~~~Kaitlyn Bancroft

Location: Al Hirschfeld Theatre during intermission at a performance of Moulin Rouge

Sounds Heard: 

  • constant chatter from all directions 
  • background music from the Moulin Rouge sound track or as learned in this class the “framing effect. “
  •  announcement bells that intermission is coming to an end and to go back to your seats.

Laughs, screams of joy,

Dancers walking

The sound of pulling paper towel out

Water running from the sink

Scrolling of the different costumes (where they are hanging)

The level and activity of sound was extremely active, varied, and loud

Location and Time: My bedroom, 5:15 p.m

Far Sounds: Car being started outside, footsteps upstairs, ceiling creaking with the steps, bird chirping outside

Medium Sounds: Someone vacuuming upstairs, aluminum can being tossed into recycling bin, refrigerator being opened and closed

Close Sounds: Laundry machine clanging, side door opening and closing, side door being locked, metal water bottle being placed on kitchen table, computer whirring, laptop keys typing

Sound Description/Level: Moderate, not too loud but lively

One Word Description: Busy

Most Important Sounds: Laundry machine clanging, footsteps upstairs, computer whirring

Far Sounds: Cars driving in the distance, faint electrical buzzing of lights

Medium Sounds: Gusts of wind, car door closing and locking outside, voices talking outside

Close Sounds: Anna picking her press on nails off, Andrew walking in the hallway, closing the bathroom door

Sound Description/Level: Low, relaxed

One Word Description: Composed

Most Important Sounds: Cars, wind, Anna picking her nails off

Location and Time: Blackbox Theater, 10:30am

Far Sounds: Door to the scene shop creaking, someone walking around backstage, audience platform creaking, AC going

Medium Sounds: Someone getting up from their chair, Tom typing on his computer, George walking down the stairs, someone walking across the audience platform, Ashley walking around on stage, moving lights moving to light up the tree

Close Sounds: Rych asking Mystery if lighting is okay, Royston talking to Mystery, the shaking of the platform, sounds playing in the speakers

Sound Description/Level: Chaotic, loud

One Word Description: Chaos

Most Important Sounds: AC blowing, the shaking of the audience platforms, door to the scene shop

Date: April 16th, 2022

Location and Time: Northern State Parkway, 6:27am

Far Sounds: Truck honking in the distance, distant engine revving, trees blowing in the wind, ambulance siren going

Medium Sounds: Blinker going, back of the car shaking, truck driving by, train horn honking

Close Sounds: “Fantasy” by Mariah Carey playing quietly, my car engine revving, the car going over bumps, car coming to screeching stop in front of me

Sound Description/Level: busy, morning rush

One Word Description: Rushing
