Journal Entry #6

Date: March 8, 2012

Time: 10:30 am

Location: The student center

Farthest Sounds: People ordering food, food being made, people talking at the atrium tables, blender from juice event.

Medium Sounds: The scrapping of chairs, forks and knvies clinking, people talking

Closes sounds: My phone vibrating, my breathing, the shuffling of my papers.

 

General Sound: Loud

Environment: Hectic

3 Sounds: People talking, chairs being moved, clinking of silverware.

3/5/12 around 1pm Art History

2. heater, hum of the projector

3. teacher rambling about the Protestant Reformation, general rustling, coughs and sniffles

4. the girl behind me pounding the keys on her laptop, the same girl blowing her nose unrelentless and unnecessarily loud.

5. there is a lot of activity but most are fairly quiet.

6. distracting

7. the loud typing, the obnoxious nose blowing, other distracting bodily noises.

Journal Entry #6

1- 3/6, Noon, Basic stage combat class

– Sit, close eyes and allow the sounds around you to envelope you, listen for all of the sound in your environment.

2- Music from the dance class in Lowe 108. Voices in the hallway.
3- The chatter coming from the group next to me, the clash of their swords. Robert talking to a group across the room, the grunts of people as they are stabbed and die.
4- the crash of my own sword as Kathryn disarms me. The noise Kathryn makes as she stabs me, my own grunting as I am stabbed.
5- Constantly noisy and loud. The crashing of the sword dropping makes me jump as they happen every couple of minutes.
6- Dangerous
7- Robert talking, swords hitting each other, and grunting as people are stabbed.

Sound Observation

1)   3/1/2012 at 930 PM Newbridge Arena Ice Rink

 

2)   Players coming out of the locker rooms, hockey sticks hitting the ground, players talking

 

3)   Fans walking up to sit in the stands, chatter of fans, hockey skates on ice

 

4)   Pucks loudly hitting the walls, my friends next to me talking, sounds of cheering and clapping

 

5)   The sound level is incredibly high. There is so much energy and loud noises from both the players and the fans since its a playoff game.

 

6)   Crazy

 

7)   The puck hitting the wall, fans yelling, buzzer sounding
