2. Air conditioning, cars outside, oven in kitchen turning on
3. Front door opening, bottles being opening, bags of chips rustling, couch springs creaking
4. TV playing ESPN, people near me hooting and hollering, music from bluetooth speaker
5. Sound level is high, lots of different things happening among the bunch of people in the room
6. Overwhelming
7. Essential sounds are the TV, people hooting and hollering at it, and the bottles.
Location: Uniondale Avenue McDonalds
Sounds: Beeping of machines inside, low hum of what I think is a fridge, people at tables talking, doors opening and closing.
1 – April 9th, 10am, Hofstra Museum of Art
2 – Furthest away sounds is far away conversations of the workers at the desk, the opening and closing of the main door, and the air conditioning
3 – Medium sounds are the footsteps of people browsing, someone reading aloud to themselves a plaque, one of the workers wrapping a table in some sort of paper for a presentation
4 – Closest is the talking of the tour guide showing off a book, the oohs and ahs of people watching, and my own flip flopped footsteps.
5 – The sound level is very low, it’s a very quiet place that only has one or two sounds going on at a time
6 – Respectful
7 – 3 essential sounds are footsteps, air conditioning, and the tour guide speaking
Location: Miami Airport
Sounds: Families talking to each other, Shoes squeaking against the floor, worker’s radio receiving a message, music lightly playing over the loudspeakers

2. Background: the kitchen, other people chatting, a couple people setting up chairs in the auditorum part of the building
3. Middle: Music playing through the speakers, the server announcing the orders, squeaking of chairs
4. Close: my own music in my earbuds, my friends talking to me, my own footsteps as I pace around
5. Medium sound level; general layer of conversation, but nothing too loud
6. Relaxed
7. 3 essential sounds are everyone at the tables talking, the music over the speakers, and the kitchen announcing orders
Location: Americano Pizza Shop in Syosset
Sounds: Obnoxious music, Woman ahead of me and the cashier taking her order (for way too long), Feet squeaking against the floor, pans being moved around the kitchen.
1 – Thursday March 5th, 7pm, Hofstra Fitness Center basketball courts.
2 – Furthest away from me is the air conditioning, sounds of treadmills and stair masters, and the TVs playing ESPN
3 – Medium range sounds are people walking and talking on the jogging path, the music of a bluetooth speaker across the courts, and water bottles on the sidelines popping open
4 – Closest to me are all the sounds of a basketball game. The ball being dribbled, hitting the backboard and going through the net, sneakers squeaking on the floor, and the trash talk going on between players.
5 – Sound level is high, lots of different people in the busy place makes a very complex sound palate.

7 – The 3 essential sounds to me are the ball dribbling, Shoes squeaking, and the background music.
Location: Student Center Cafe
Sounds: People chatting, footsteps of other people and my own, the register beeping as it scans items, the refrigerator door opening and closing.
