2. Identify the sounds farthest from you: Furthest from me, I can hear someone leaving their room and entering the bathroom.  There is also this constant, but not annoying, buzzing of the AC/Heating unit in our room.  If the wind blows particularly hard, I can hear the effect it has on the windows of our 12th floor room.

3. Identify the sounds at medium range: Marina cutting her resumes and stapling them to her headshots.  I can hear the brand new, and totally awesome, paper-cutter slicing the pages. I can also hear her concentrated sniffling, as she works over her pages.

4. Identify the sounds closest to you: Closest to me, is the song coming from my computer, which is John Mayer’s “Badge and Gun.”  My new phone has also alerted me to a new text message during my journal listening time.  I can hear myself sigh (John Mayer related?).

5. General sound level and activity: The general sound is peaceful and productive.  It is a very hectic time of the year, and my roommate and I are tackling everything we have to accomplish this last week before Spring Break.  The sound is comprised of music to keep a certain level of focus blended with the actual sounds coming as the result of focus.

6. One word to describe the sound environment:  Particular

7. 3 essential sounds to the sound environment:

-The music from my computer

-The paper-cutter

-The AC/Heater buzzing

1. Kinkos, Thursday, March 13, 9:00 pm.

2. Identify sounds furthest from you: I can hear the sound of a customer service rep for the post office section typing on his keyboard and chatting with his customer.

3. Identify sounds at medium range to you: The phone behind the service desk rings about every two minutes. The only other customer service rep is on hold, on speaker phone, with technical support. Sara Bareilles plays from the speakers in the ceiling.

4. Identify sounds closest to you: The touch screen on the printer I’m using makes a click with each button I press. The printer is printing my resumes with a loud whir. The tray moves down with a clink as it finishes up. The keypad spits out my debit card with a beep to remind me not to leave it behind.

5. The general sound level is medium, the only activity being the hold music, the store music, the phone ringing, the employee on hold, and my printer.

6. Word to describe sound environment: Tech-filled.

7. 3 things to complete the sound environment:
– My printer whirring
– The hold music
– The store music (they pay for that radio to be on, right?!)
