Bits’ n’ Bytes – 3:36 PM
Sounds: Various chatter throughout the room, the blender, a squeaking noise, various kitchen noises, ice moving in a cup
1- 4/10/24 – 12:35 – Tables outside of Bits ‘n’ Bytes
2- People talking on the other side of the quad, cars driving down the turnpike, shuffled steps on the concrete.
3- Birds chirping, someone’s heels clacking on the cement as they walk, leaves rustling in the wind, someone’s keys jangling as they walk.
4- My friend typing at the computer next to me, an airplane flying overhead, someone laughing at the table next to me, the ice in my drink shifting as I pick it up and take a sip, the sound of someone’s skateboard as they skate by my table.
5- Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity – Sound level: low and quiet; Sound activity: relatively high, there are a lot of different noises and sounds outside.
6- Peaceful.
7- The birds, the ambience voices throughout the quad, and the steps and general movement of the people passing by.
- Date: 2/4/20 – Time: 1:00pm – Location: Bits ‘n Bytes
- The farthest sound from me is the sizzling of the food cooking on the grill and the sound of a grill scraper scraping the grill.
- In the medium range of sound, I can hear the smoothie machine rumbling and making a loud noise when being operated by someone. I can also hear a bunch of people talking to each other in a friendly manner.
- The closest sound from me is me chewing on my sandwich and smacking the food in my mouth. I can also hear my foot banging on the rim of the chair.
- The general sound level is definitely more loud than quiet due to the capacity of people inside the establishment. There is a lot of sound activity in every corner of the area with people talking and moving everywhere.
- One word to describe the “sound environment” is noisy.
- 3 sounds that are essential to the “sound environment” is the sizzling of food being made, groups of people talking and laughing, and me eating my food.

Farthest away: Food packages being shuffled, the heater running
Medium Range: Clanking of coins being dropped into the register, footsteps scuffing across the floor, beeps of the scanner, bags crinkling, blenders churning
Close Range: People talking, chairs being dragged across the floor, coat zippers clinking on chairs as they are set down.
General sound level is somewhat higher than normal, a lot of sound activity through the wide variety of sounds present.
One-Word Description: Busy
3 essential sounds: Coins, Blenders, People talking (indecipherably)

Sounds heard: people talking, *ding* from a phone, cash register, crinkle of a bag, a chair being pushed out, someone saying “corgi” multiple times, change
Bits n Bytes
Eating lunch while Alex and Jess discuss projects, with typical background noise of the café of people pulling chairs around and talking.
