Closest- me, typing on my computer
Active, but you can still hold a somewhat quiet conversation
Essential Sounds: people talking far away, people talking close, people walking

  2. Sound level- busy and loud, but you can still hold a conversation
  3. Description: active
  4. Essential sounds- food being cooked, people talking in Vietnamese, food being eaten
  1. Long Beach Airport Long Beach, Ca 8:45 am 2/20
  2. Farthest- airplane taking off, distant conversation, someone pushing a cart, automatic doors opening
  3. Mid-range- music playing over a radio, elevator music playing, people rolling bags, someone stacking glasses
  4. Closest- airport announcements, sound effects from people playing games on their phone
  5. Sound level- low to medium, room to have a quiet conversation with someone nearby
  6. A bit hectic, but calm
  7. Essential sounds- elevator music, airport announcements, airplane taking off

sounds heard: fountain, people walking, indistinct conversation, children, laughing

Date: 2/14 Time: 6:25 am Location: JFK airport

Farthest noise: the distant rumble of people walking, excited children chattering, the clank of high heels, elevator music being played somewhere

Mid-range noise: Airport announcements all talking over each other, scattered giggles, a walky-talky going off

Closest: TV news playing, A couple talking next to me

Sound level: Busy, but not particularly loud

Sound presence: all-encompassing

Description: busy

Essential sounds: chattering kids Airline announcements, people talking

Sounds in the clip: unzipping zippers, rummaging through a suitcase, unlocking a lock, pins, and bracelets jiggling

Sounds in clip: the water turning on, going down the drain, hitting the tiles of my shower

  3. Mid-range: Game show playing, people cheering (along with the game show)
  4. Closest: People talking
  5. Sound level: loud, but still quiet enough to have a conversation
  6. Description: Lively
  7. Sounds Essential to environment: TV playing, people talking, people walking

 

  1. Date: February 1, 2018, Time: 8:01 pm, Location: Hague 311
  2. Farthest: Airplane overhead, cars passing by, people talking in the lounge
  3. Medium range: people walking by outside, people talking outside, tv in the lounge
  4. Closest: people talking in the other room, doors opening and closing
  5. The sound was fairly loud, however, it was muffled because all the sounds occurred either in another room or outside.  Most of the speaking was muffled, however, the TV and some conversation in the lounge were understandable, including the intro to Ru Paul’s drag race.  
  6. Description: Energetic
  7. Three sounds I would say would be essential to the environment would be the TV playing, cars passing outside as well as people talking in the lounge, reacting to the TV show
