  1. Date: 3/19/20 – Time: 8:00pm – Location: My Home (Carmel, NY)
  2. The farthest sounds from me is the downstairs TV playing and my sister singing.
  3. In the medium range of sound, I can hear my mom talking down the hallway.
  4. The closest sounds from me is my TV playing and my bed creaking as I move around on it.
  5. The general sound level is intermediate and the amount of sound activity is sporadic since all sounds are being made separately.
  6. One word to describe the “sound environment” is active.
  7. 3 things that are essential to the “sound environment” is my sister singing, my mom talking, and my bed creaking.

Journal Entry #7 – Barone

  1. Date: 3/12/20 – Time: 5:00pm – Location: My Home (Carmel, NY)
  2. The farthest sounds from me is my mom talking to my grandma downstairs in the kitchen and the television on.
  3. In the medium range of sound, I can hear someone walking up the staircase towards my room.
  4. The closest sounds from me is me typing on my laptop and sniffling.
  5. The general sound level is pretty noisy and the amount of sound activity is large since a lot of noises are happening at once.
  6. One word to describe the “sound environment” is loud.
  7. 3 things that are essential to the “sound environment” is my mom talking to my grandma, someone walking up the staircase, and me typing on my laptop.

location My house West Hempstead

1)Farthest sounds: My mom and father talking, phone ringing, Aunt speaking spanish, my grandmother calling me every five minuets.

2)Medium: Weird buzzing sound from stove, cat making noise, television left on in the den.

3)Closets Sounds: Water running in the bathroom, Plane above, my chair being very squeaky.

4)General sound level: High

General sound activity: High

5) one word description: Chaotic

Journal Entry #6 – Quiet Drive

  1. Date: 3/5/18, Time: about 9:10pm, Location: driving down Hempstead Ave
  2. Sounds farthest: cars beeping horns, cars whooshing by
  3. Sounds at medium range: my car engine revving, tires turning
  4. Sounds closest: internal thoughts, air/heat blowing from my AC
  5. Level of sound activity: Mostly quiet (unless the windows are open)
  6. Longing (for home)

Journal Entry #2 – Normal Night

  2. Sounds farthest away: People talking on TV, music from TV
  3. Sounds at medium range: Stepfather commenting/reacting to Olympics on TV
  4. Sounds closest: Mother preparing something in the microwave, opening of the fridge door, beeping of the toaster
  5. General sound level: A lot of sound activity, but fairly quiet between my mother and I. Meanwhile, my stepfather is a bit loud as he was speaking from another room

  2. The wind outside, the hum of a car going buy
  3. My mom chopping food, the sink turning on as she cleans some of it. The rip of a paper towel
  4. The tv is on way too loud, my dad’s headphones are clinging together as he plugs them in
