  1. 3/11/26, 12:50pm, Bits n Bytes
  2. Farthest: The sound of utensils/food being cooked in the dining hall. Beeping of students getting rung up at the cash register
  3. Medium: Chatter in the dining hall during common hour. The creaking of the door opening and closing everytime someone walks in/out, the sound of chairs scraping on the floor.
  4. Closest: Kids lining up to go back to the daycare/school (?) that is here on campus.
  5. Sound Level/Activity: The sound level was pretty high, it was during common hour so it was pretty crowded, the kids were pretty rowdy despite them being on their way out the door, and all around it was pretty overstimulating.
  6. Description: Dining hall, common hour, high sound activity
  7. Essential Sounds: Beeping from the register, cooking in the kitchen area, talking from other students, chairs scraping on the floor

Journal Entry

  1. 3/17/26, 1:20pm, Train heading towards Penn Station
  2. Farthest: Chatter from the other people on the other side of the train car
  3. Medium: Sound of the train moving/wheels running along the train track. Every now and then the horn (?) of the train goes off.
  4. Closest: At each stop the intercom system goes off announcing each stop and the destination of the train. My boyfriend listening to videos on his phone despite me telling him to put in headphones
  5. Sound Level/Activity: The sound level was moderate. Not too loud, but not quiet either, a comfortable sound level that wasn’t too overstimulating
  6. Description: Train car, normal activity
  7. Essential Sounds: Train moving, people talking, intercom system announcements, video from phone speaker
