  2. Farthest: The sound the elevator makes when it stops and opens on this floor, muffled voiced coming from the room across the hall from me
  3. Medium: Voices coming from a group studying in the room next to me
  4. Closest: Music from my computer, laughter from across the room

Closest: Buzzing of freezer, shower dripping (slow, heavy drops), the sound of my typing

Med: Cars passing outside, wind, futon squeaking when I lean forward to type

Far: Footsteps in the hallway, low thuds (source unknown)
