Far Sounds – Conductor punching the tickets in the next car over, bathroom door slamming shut

Medium Sounds – The wheels of the train squeaking, the announcment of the next train stop over the PA system

Close Sounds – My dad talking to his friends across the aisle, another train flying past on the opposite track, The girl across from me opening a snack wrapper

Sound Level – Medium

Three Important Sounds – Train track squeak, ticket punching, announcment over the loudspeaker

April 6th, 2025- 7:53pm – Axinn Library Basement Floor

Far sounds: Door opening and closing, a phone conversation far behind me, bookbag being unzipped, a “thud” of a book being dropped on a table

Medium Sounds: Pages turning, Keyboard typing, elevator arriving, coughing

Close Range Sounds: Air conditioning on, my own keyboard typing, whispering conversation from a group next to me

General Sound Level: Quiet, white noise

One word describing the sound environment: Relaxing

Three Important sounds: Walking, Chairs being pulled in and out, Elevator

April 4th, 2025 – 8:20 PM – Black Box Green Room

Far Sounds: A run crew member typing on their computer, the actors saying their lines inside the black box (onstage and speaker)

Medium Sounds: The air conditioning, the actor soldiers coming out from the shop to go backstage, the backstage door opening and closing

Closest Sounds: Some run crew members quietly chatting near me, typing on my keyboard, listening to Jason Schmidt singing sweet tunes on my AirPods

General Sound Level: A very soft level, calming environment behind backstage

One word describing the Sound Environment: comforting

Three Important Sounds: Onstage lines from speaker, run crew members whispering conversation, Jason Schmidt singing “Close By” playing on my Airpods

  6. One word to describe sound environment: Hectic
  7. Three important sounds: Music playing, the other interns typing, people on Zoom meetings

March 26th, 2025 – 2:18 AM – Bits & Bytes

Far Sounds: Scanning beep, receipts printing, frozen yogurt machines, the hum of the open refrigerators

Medium Sounds: People chattering and laughing, footsteps, chairs screeching

Closest Sounds: A group on my right having a conversation, typing on my keyboard, listening to John Mulaney cracking jokes on my AirPods

General Sound Level: A soft medium level, not too loud for a big area of social setting

One word describing the Sound Environment: engaging

Three Important Sounds: Loud Chattering, moving chairs, John Mulaney’s “New Kid On The Block” playing on airpods
