  1. Far Range Sound – People ordering food, rolling of trash cans and distant conversations
  2. Medium Range Sound – Footsteps, people opening drinks and eating, Brooklyn slice chefs cooking
  3. Close Range Sound – People next to me eating and talking, typing from computers, Brooklyn Slice workers speaking spanish
  4. General level – High
  5. Bustling
  6. People having conversations, food being opened and Brooklyn Slice workers preparing food

4/25/24- Roosevelt Field Mall food court

Far Sounds: Deep Fryer, Grill Sizzling, Feet Shuffling

Medium Sounds: People talking and laughing, chairs being pushed in, conversations, people walking in groups

Close Sounds: Laughter, bags openings, eating noises, chairs being pushed in and out

The general sound level is High.

The sound environment is noisy

Three essential sounds: Talking, chairs, Grills

1- April 24th, 11:14 am, Barnard and Brower court yard

2- students walking on pavement, birds chirping, AC unit running
3- students having a conversation on court yard, paper bag rustling as someone pulls their food out, toddlers running by and shouting from the daycare program
4- student next to me typing on computer, another student unzipping her bag, a group of students cursing as they walk by
5- medium, i’ve heard quieter but the area is not loud
6- college (context: everytime its warm out all the students flock to the court yards, my friends and i joke that we’re “so college”)
7- birds chirping, students talking and laughing, AC unit from buildings

Far Sounds: Landscapers mowing the lawns, daycare workers forcing the children to take photos in front of the tulips, doors opening/closing, people talking far away

Medium Sounds: people chattering, moving objects on the picnic table, footsteps, people playing with the bat mitten net, radio playing from the hidden speakers

Closest Sounds: My friend and I typing on the computer, Siri telling me who texted me on my AirPods, my friend sniffing cause she has allergies

General Sound Level: A general medium tone level, calming yet inviting

One word describing the Sound Environment: Chill

Three Important Sounds: Daycare workers forcing the children to take photos in front of the tulips, radio playing from the hidden speakers, my friend sniffing cause she has allergies

1. 4/16/25 – 3:53 PM – Angel Touch Physical Therapy in Hicksville, NY 

2. Far Sounds: I hear a high-pitched squeak from a bus hitting the brakes at the traffic light, revving from fast-driving cars, and gusts of wind blowing toward the door.

3. Medium Sounds: I hear the receptionist typing on her keyboard, water pouring out of the dispenser, and someone opening curtains.

4. Close Sounds: I hear delicate piano music from the TV, staff talking with patients, and an automated voicemail response.

5. The general sound level is soft. The sound activity is steady.

6. The sound environment is relaxing.

7. Three sounds essential to the sound environment are the delicate piano music, staff talking with patients, and gusts of wind blowing toward the door.
