Sound Journal #2

Date: February 10, 2011

Location: War Of the Roses rehearsal, NAB

Time: 9:45 pm

Far away sounds: Footsteps in the hallway outside the shop, the opening and closing of the first set of Black Box doors, music students chatting in the hallway right inside the NAB entrance

Moderately close sounds: Royston’s voice directing a scene at the center of the stage, Pat quietly explaining a short piece of fight choreography to Shanna, Flynn, and Megan on a different part of the stage, very quiet chatter from the seats further away from me

Very close sounds: John’s keyboard typing, the sound that a plastic water bottle makes when there’s not much water left and someone is drinking out of it (a sort of crackle), Chris coughing, my stuffy breathing.

One word description: Quiet.

Crucial sounds to recreate this atmosphere: Heavy breathing, water bottle, Royston’s voice in the background.
