1/27/20 – 11:29A.M. – Pride Den

In the distance is the sound of a dull air conditioner blowing in the opposite side of the room, along with the sound of doors opening and closing as people enter and exit the room. At medium range, I hear the sound of groups of people talking to each other. Some are gossiping while some are quietly studying together. There is someone playing video games and loudly pressing buttons on a controller. Also, there are people getting into and getting out of chairs. Closest to me, there is a quiet hum from a television that is silently displaying announcement messages, along with a group that is loudly enthusing about video games and partying. The general sound level is constantly fluctuating with the many different conversations going on in the area. It constantly fluctuates between nearly silent and roaring. I would describe the sound environment as “social” because of the many conversations going on. The essential sounds that make this up are the sounds of the doors opening and closing, people getting constantly getting in and out of chairs, and the constant chatter of people talking. These all demonstrate how active the area appears to be.
