Hofstra Drama 20 – Sound for the Theatre

Location: Vander Poel laundry room

Sounds heard: Washers running, dryers running, washer door closing, footsteps.

Location: Laundry Room in Hague

Sounds Heard: Washer whirring, Dryer going, door open and closing, Dryer door opening and closing.

1. Location: 2/4/2016, about 9:30pm, Laundry Room
2. Sounds heard: Washing machines, dryers, vent, all of the sounds seem muddied together because they’re all kind of similar

1) Feburary 2, 2012 at 8:45pm in Suffolk dorm’s laundry room

2) The farthest sounds away from me are people talking down the hall, the evelator doors opening down the hall, and dorm room doors down the hall opening and closing.

3) The moderate sounds I hear are girls talking outside the laundry room door and footsteps of people walking  outside the door of the laundry room.

4) The closest sounds I hear are washers and drawers rotating, the sound of someone taking his laundry out of the dryer, the sound of the girl texting next to me as she waits for her washer to finish, and the laundry room door opening as a guy walks in to pick up his laundry.

5) The general sound level is kind of obnoxious.  I don’t really care for the sound of washers and dryers.  When the washer changes rinse cycles, it sounds abrupt and loud. It is very distracting and I would not want to hang out in a laundry room again.

7) Sounds are people talking, doors and evelator doors opening and closing, footsteps, rotating washers and dryers, and buttons on a phone being pressed.
