1- Date/Time/Location.
4.24.13/11:10pm/My car in the parking lot of Nassau.

2- Identify and list the sounds farthest away from you.
I can hear people speaking, maybe the smokers that frequent the benches in front of the residence hall, but they are too far away to discern any specific words.

3- Identify and list the sounds at medium range from you.
I can hear a car door slam, and a car beep as it’s locked.  I can also hear  a car driving by, maybe looking for somewhere to park.  I can also hear the slight rustle of the trees in front of my car with the slight wind.

4- Identify and list the sounds closest to you.
Ingrid Michaelson playing from my car stereo, softly, then the mechanical noise the CD player makes when a song ends as it switches to the next song.  I can hear the soft hum of my car’s engine as well.

5- Describe the general sound level and amount of sound activity.
Low activity, very quiet and calm.

6- Assign a one word description to the “sound environment”.
Serene.

7- Select and list 3 sounds which are essential to the sound environment.
The car driving by, Ingrid Michaelson playing, the hum of my car’s engine.
