- 04/11/13-10:01 AM–Walking to campus from home on a sunny day.
- Sounds farthest away from you: Multiple different kinds of birds chirping, sound coming from all different directions. This strikes me; I don’t think I had ever heard as many birds chirping at the same time in my life. They sound very happy.
- Sounds at medium range: Cars approach and drive away, the sound of my feet as they walk on the sidewalk. It sounds gravely.
- Sounds closest to you: The strong wind as it hits my ears.
- General sound level and amount of sound activity: Sound level and activity are at a medium. There are not many different kinds of sounds but rather a plethora of the same sound; different birds chirping from all directions. I feel completely enveloped in the bubbly birds’ chirping and, if I close my eyes, it sounds like I could be at a bird sanctuary or an open field.
- One word description to the “sound environment”: Bright.
- 3 sounds essential to the sound environment: If I could say the different kinds of birds chirping are three essential sounds I would, as the different birds had different tones and tempos that all created a sense of harmony. However, if I must choose other types of sound not related, I would choose the gravely walking on the sidewalk and the strong wind hitting my ears. This soundscape makes me feel very alive.
