- 01/28/2013 1:05 pm Hempstead Train Station, outside waiting for a train.

-Sounds farthest away: Hail falling to the pavement (reminds me of what skittles would probably sound like if falling from the sky), solitary bird chirping, it’s a high tweet but I cannot identify what kind of bird, kids laughing.
- Sounds at a medium range: Shoes sliding around and crushing hail as people walk, various adults talking, laughing, and coughing at a low volume.
- Sounds closest: Ice cold wind hitting my hood, softly whistling in my ear.
- General sound level and amount of sound activity: Though it seems like there are many sounds going on from my description above, the sounds blend, especially the whistling of the wind and the hail falling, in a way that is almost symphonic. Sound level is low and sound activity seems low as well, despite the many elements that make up the sound environment.
- One word description: Icy.
- 3 sounds essential to the sound environment: 1) Hail falling to the pavement, 2) Shoes sliding around and crushing hail as people walk, 3) Ice cold wind hitting my hood, softly whistling in my ear.
