Sound Journal #3

Date: February 13, 2011

Location: Tap Class, Calkins 139

Time: 12:45 pm

Far away sounds: The footsteps of people walking down the hallway and into the classroom, people talking and goofing around outside (I can hear this through the window).

Moderately close sounds: Several girls practicing last weeks tap routine on the other side of the studio, the accompanist plucking a few keys here and there in preparation, moderate chatter.

Very close sounds: My tap shoes clunking around on the floor below me as I walk to my water bottle, the crackle of my water bottle, my knees cracking as I bend down, Lizzie and Kat talking to me.

One word description: Rhythmic

Crucial sounds to recreate this atmosphere: Spontaneous tap steps layered on top of one another, classroom chatter.
