Sound Journal

Location: On a train, somewhere between Bridgeport and New York (The train was from Boston to New York, but the distinct moment was sometime after I had passed Bridgeport). Wasn’t exactly keeping track of time that day. 24th of April.

Far Sounds: Sound of wheels on tracks.

Middle Sounds: People in seats behind me and across from me talking.

Near Sounds: The music from the headphones of the man seated next to me. It is loud enough that I can distinguish words. He frequently begins a song, plays it for about 20-40 seconds, then skips to the next one, creating an unflattering break in the unflattering rap music.

General Level: Quiet

One-Word Description: Intruded

3 Sounds: Rap music. The skipped-track break. The wheels on the tracks.
