Sitting backstage at Measure For Measure rehearsal during Blackbird’s run

– Sit, close eyes and allow the sounds around you to envelope you, listen for all of the sound in your environment.

2- Lines, yelling on stage, heard both from the door as well as the intercom in the dressing rooms
3- Low conversations in the dressing room, Jesse doing his warmups nearby.
4- Air Conditioning unit above me, girl next to me turning pages as she reads
5- It’s all backstage voices.  slight nervousness for the dress rehearsal, but certainly not the nervousness of a performance.  The noise from the stage ranges with the emotion of the scene.

7- Hushed whispers, yelling from stage, pages turning next to me.

1- 5/1/12, 7:56AM, Outside walking from my dorm building to the Student Center.

2- An airplane flying, cars on the road, rain, birds calling.

3- Water draining in a sewer, a truck engine humming and then stopping, a generator going.

4- My footsteps, rain falling hard from the trees because of wind.

5- The sound level and activity is very low.

6- Chipper.

7- The rain, the cars driving, my footsteps.

1.  4/27/12 at 12am in the common room at the end of my dorm room floor

2.  The sounds furthest from me are people talking in the hall and the elevator doors closing.

3.  The sounds at medium range to me are the closing of doors and people walking in the halls that are talking to one another.

4.  The sounds closest to me are my laptop humming and the air conditioner unit.

5.  The sound level is a bit loud because there is an echo in the room.  Because of the echo, it is making the sounds closest to me more noticeable

6. Noticeable

7.  Three sounds that are essential to the environment are the air conditioner unit, laptop humming, and the doors shutting in the hall.
